It's Winter?

Friday was the perfect "winter" day to go outside and observe our tree. The students got a chance to see what happened to our tree during the winter and write about their favorite activity in the winter.

Green Eggs & Ham

On Friday to conclude our study of Dr. Seuss we read the story Green Eggs and Ham and made it for a treat. What do you think?
Yum! The green eggs are cooking!
Kylie and Breanna dig in!

What do you think Mia?

Welcome back Frankie! Hope you liked the green eggs and ham!

Seuss-O

On Friday while waiting for our Green Eggs & Ham to cook, we enjoyed playing Seuss-O with Dr. Seuss books.

Horton Hears a Who

One activity we completed this week was to compare and contrast Horton Hears a Who the book, and Horton Hears a Who the movie.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

This week we celebrated Dr. Suess's 105th birthday. On Monday after reading The Cat in the Hat, the class made Dr. Seuss hats.

Learning About Time

In math my class began learning about time. The students were put into groups to learn just how long a minute is.

How many times can you write the alphabet in one minute?

How many times can you say The Plege of Alligence in one minute?

How many unifix cubes can you put together in one minute?

How many times can you write your name in one minute?

Reviewing Contractions

This week we reviewed contractions with our story Good-Bye Curtis. The students had fun playing a game in which they had to determine if the two words made a contraction or not.

Learning About Light & Shadow

In Science we learned about the characteristics of light and shadow. The students had to position their flashlights on their partner to create a shadow. They also needed to figure out what to do with their flashlight in order to make their shadows larger and smaller.

President's Day Play

During the week of President's Day, we read and acted out the play, "A Letter to Abe." The students enjoyed learning about the history of President Lincoln and why he grew his beard.

Valentine's Day Party

We had a fabulous Valentine's Day party complete with relay races, games, and fun!

Candy Heart Math

In my math class, we spent Valentine's Day sorting and graphing candy hearts.
