Nature's Nursery

Today, Nature's Nursery held a program for our students to meet some of the animals the children will be helping out. This was an amazing experience for all of us, and got the children motivated to read! :)

Welcome Home!

Today we had a suprise visitor! Alison's grandpa has been serving in Iraq for the past year. Alison was suprised to see him at our door after art class. It was a special reunion for Alison and her grandpa John, and an opportunity for the children to ask a soldier some questions. Thank you for serving our country! We are glad you are home safe and sound! :)

A Special Visitor

This week we had a special visitor in our class. On Friday, Kathryn's grandma Sharon and little sister, came to our class to tell us about The Buffalo Preserve they visited in Fremont. They brought pictures of the buffalo and shared a story with our class. This was perfect, because in our Scholastic News we learned that buffalo grow thicker fur in the autumn to keep them warm through the winter. Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure with us! :)

Hunks & Chunks

This year, the students in my class will be learning Ginny Dowd's Phonics Dance. I have found this to be beneficial to my students when reading and decoding words. So far, we have learned 8 "hunk and chunk" chants. This week we spent reviewing the hunk and chunks we have learned so far. Each morning we chant our alphabet walk and hunks and chunks. Here is a preview of what we have learned so far. Enjoy!
