A New Member to our Waterville Family

This is Sara, the newest addition to the Waterville Primary family. Waterville was chosen to receive a therapy dog to come and be a part of our school. Sara will begin coming to school on Monday November 3rd. We are very excited to have Sara with us, and feel it will be a wonderful opportunity to help our students.

Halloween Fun!

This week our class enjoyed a fun filled week of Halloween activities. Each day the students had to look for a clue to figure out what our day would be about. These boys and girls enjoy creating a follow the direction scarecrow made up by one of their classmates.

Family Fun Night!

On Thursday, we spent the evening with our families participating in many fun musical activities. Mrs. Dentel did a fabulous job of putting the evening together for us. Everyone had the opportunity to be a kid again and have ball! It appeared to be a terrific evening for everyone!

The Journey North

The second graders are participating in a program called The Journey North. This is a program around the country that provide tulip bulbs for us to plant in a grid and track the progress of their growth. On Thursday, we spent the day observing and dissecting tulip bulbs. Then we made our way out to the Land Lab and planted our bulbs in our grid. The students enjoyed learning which way the bulb had to be in order for it to grow.

A Fun Filled Day of Field Trips

Today we spent a day learning new things out in the real world. We started our morning off by visiting The Toledo Museum of Art. The students were very engaged in learning about all the amazing art work, including pictures, decorative art and sculptures. Then, we traveled to MacQueen's Orchard where we had a picnic lunch and learned about how apples are grown and the process it takes to get the apples and cider to the consumers.Talking with the docent in one of the galleries.

Nature's Nursery

Today, Nature's Nursery held a program for our students to meet some of the animals the children will be helping out. This was an amazing experience for all of us, and got the children motivated to read! :)
